Augsburger, who became CEO of Caro Community Hospital in 2013, was praised for turning around a financially challenged institution. He is credited with helping to raise funds for advanced medical equipment and recruiting specialists to enhance services.

His community outreach programs include the development of a discounted lab test program for low-income residents and funding for diabetes education and a hospice room for inpatient and respite care.
